West Midland medical product manufacturers have showcased their wares to buyers from more than ten new international markets.

The International Networking Event - held at Birmingham's International Convention centre and hosted by Medilink West Midlands and UK Trade and Investment -

featured more than 20 companies to 60 buyers from more than ten countries.

Products ranging from bone screws, orthopaedic insoles and hydrotherapy pools were marketed to representatives from countries as varied as Saudi Arabia, The Czech Republic, Iran, Russia, Hungary, Portugal and Slovakia. Buyers interested in products are able to meet manufacturers again at the Naidex 2006 exhibition being held at the NEC, which runs until tomorrow and features the best of British products for disabilities and rehabilitation.

"Events like these are very important.

"It is clever that these companies are exhibiting here so they can promote themselves and then the buyers can arrange to see them at the Naidex show," said Jana Istvanova, trade and investment advisor for the Slovak Republic.

Matthew Rees, the divisional head of Telfordbased steel fabricator Syspal, said the event had turned out to be much more than just the fact-finding mission he had hoped for.

"We came to find out more about the Middle Eastern market for our products and have not only achieved that but have also generated significant interest in our hydrotherapy treadmills from at least five of the buyers," he said. ..SUPL:
