The boss of a Midland house-building firm rolled up his sleeves to help clean up an eyesore.
A sandstone wall dating back 100 years which runs along a "gateway" to Bewdley is getting some expert restoration work.
Richard Jones, managing director of Hagley Homes, joined his team of brickies to set about the repairs which are valued at about £3,000.
The work was launched by town, county and Wyre Forest District councillor Gordon Yarranton. Mr Jones, whose company is based at Hagley, near Stourbridge, said the "gateway" was very important to the town's appearance.
He had noticed the stretch of wall had fallen into disrepair when he began a nearby apartments project.
Coun Yarranton said: "It's very refreshing for someone to make a gesture of this nature without wanting payment."
