Marks & Spencer is to open a Simply Food store at Birmingham International Airport.

The store, which will be located in the new central arrivals area as part of the One Terminal project which will see the airport’s two terminals merged in a £13m project, will open in December.

The store will open under a franchise agreement between Marks & Spencer and SSP UK, the leading operator of food and beverage brands, who operate M&S Simply Food franchise stores for the travel and hospital environment.

Richard Gill, head of commercial at Birmingham Airport, said: “We are committed to improving passenger experience and attracting quality brands like M&S Simply Food as part of our development strategy.

“We want the holiday experience to start and continue as soon as travellers arrive or return to the airport and aim to achieve this by increasing choice and availability of quality food and drink options.”

Debi D’Arcy Bean, client relations director at SSP UK Air, said: “We have worked closely with Birmingham Airport to introduce the M&S Simply Food concept and provide airport users with the very best in quality food choices.”
