Marconi has distanced itself from claims that tomorrow is the final day for bids for the firm.
Reports circulating yesterday suggested telecoms giants, Ericsson and Alcatel, were locked in a battle for the company.
Marconi, which has effectively been up for sale since missing out on a key contract from BT, said in August that it was in preliminary talks over potential " business combinations".
There was speculation yesterday that final bids were due tomorrow and a winner may be announced on the same day.
A Marconi spokesman said: "This is just another rumour, there is nothing more to say."
In August, the group said it was in the early stages of discussions about "potential business combinations".
