Birmingham fasteners manufacturer Thomas Walker has appointed William Good as its new group managing director.

Mr Good, who was appointed as an executive director earlier this month, will take up his new position July 1. The company’s existing managing director, Edward Cook, will remain on the main board until his retirement in October.

Mr Good, who is 56, brings extensive industry experience to Thomas Walker having previously held a number of senior management positions within both UK and international companies.

A graduate engineer from Birmingham University and a qualified accountant, Mr Good started his career in 1973 at Robson Rhodes Chartered Accountants.

Following seven years at Brooke Bond Group, Mr Good moved on to TI Group in 1985 as business area director - finance. Following the sale of TI Group’s seamless stainless steel tube operations to Sandvik in 1987, Mr Good remained with Sandvik where he enjoyed a succession of internal promotions over a 13 year period, culminating in his appointment as managing director of the steel division.

Mr Good is currently a warden of the Birmingham Assay Office. Past Directorships over the last five years, have been at Ollerton, Ollerton Engineering Services, Birmingham Botanical Gardens (Enterprises) and Birmingham Botanical and Horticultural Society.
