Cooker-maker AGA Rangemaster has revealed encouraging trading for its major brands after a slow start to the autumn season.

Leamington-based AGA said volumes continued to rise by four per cent at the half year after the recent addition of its programmable five-oven iTotal Control and improvements to its international dealer structures.

The firm said it continued to increase sales outside the UK to offset a weak home market and while conditions in Ireland remained tough sales there are stabilising at levels appreciably below last year.

Elsewhere in North America AGA Marvel continues to make progress and based on new market opportunities the group expects an appreciably better 2013.

Chief executive William McGrath said: "This is a sound trading performance for the group. The progress of our product offering and the expected finalisation of the pension financing arrangements combine to give an air of optimism for 2013."
