Two national contracts are set to see a Midland recycling firm post £3m annual sales for the first time in its eight-year history.

Recycled UK, which employs 32 people at its Cannon Business Park factory in Coseley, will process up to 120 tonnes of plastic each week as part of a deal that will eventually see it manage 6,000 tonnes a year.

Jobs have already been created as a result of the increase in demand and these operatives will also be used in the firm’s other activities, including the destruction of CDs, DVDs, video games and sensitive medical records.

Managing director Paul Green said: “This contract is one of the biggest we’ve ever won and will see us take on responsibility for all the plastic recycling of a major logistics company – this could take us past £3 million by the end of the year.

“There’s been a lot going on already in 2014. We’ve also invested nearly £50,000 in training, including making sure all 32 members of staff are accredited to NVQ level two.”

Running parallel with the plastic side of the business is growth in the company’s secure x-ray destruction services.

More than a third of sales is now focused on this specialist capability, an impressive amount considering it counted for nothing two yeas ago.
