Manufacturer and calibrator PowerKut has increased its penetration into Birmingham by acquiring Perry Barr-based AJ Mare Instruments for an undisclosed sum.
The acquisition gives PowerKut, based in Coventry, an important trade counter in the second city.
PowerKut, with accreditations from Rolls Royce and the Ministry of Defence, is involved in both the manufacture and verification of components for some of the world's best companies.
Recently projects have included parts for the latest generation of aero engines and improvements to nuclear reactor sites.
The company attributes its success to the quality of its components, which are used in some of the latest CNC machines, plus it has the ability to measure and verify this quality in its fully equipped laboratory.
The laboratory also provides gauge calibration and full gauge management services, the latter in a format designed to reduce carbon footprints and contribute to ISO14000.
Managing director Peter Everitt said: "This is an exciting time for us and the new branch in Perry Barr gives us a great platform to improve our services in and around the city."
He said the intention now was to build on the firm's brands, develop the customer base and open new branches around the country.
