A West Midlands company is proving manufacturing in the region has a spring in its step.
Micro Spring and Presswork, on the Enfield Industrial Estate, Redditch, has racked up new orders across the world for its bespoke, high-end springs and presswork.
The firm, which employs 32, supplies springs, presswork and assemblies to aerospace, medical, high technology and telecommunications clients. The company was acquired by Nevis Capital in February, with assistance from Yorkshire Bank, and has already chalked up £500,000 of new business.
Keith Gardner, new managing director, said: “We are expanding and investing in new technology. Since February, we have performed well above expectation.
“There has been a trend in recent years to transfer manufacturing overseas to exploit cheap labour, but they can’t match us for capability and quality so our blue chip customers source products from us.That’s why our springs, presswork and assemblies can be found on aeroplanes, in military and medical equipment – one of our products has even been into space.
