Black cab-maker Manganese Bronze has agreed an exclusivity deal with part-owner Geely to distribute its vehicles and spare parts in the UK.

The Coventry-based firm, which has been targeting rising sales in the Far East, will now work on behalf of Chinese manufacturer Geely in the UK.

Geely owns about 20 per cent of Manganese (MBH) and planned to take a majority stake last year, before the deal fell through.

Under the terms of the agreement, Manganese has been granted exclusivity to develop and agree a business plan with Geely, including offering an after-sales service.

Should this not be possible, the firms said that the agreement will lapse in August 2012.

Chief executive John Russell said: “The signing of this agreement is a further example of the growing relationship between MBH and Geely.

“We look forward to successfully establishing and agreeing the business plan for the launch of Geely vehicles into the UK and to the implementation of that plan.”
