A Birmingham-based manufacturer has bucked the current gloom surrounding the industry by securing a major new overseas contract.

W G Eaton, based in Lower Essex Street, manufactures and distributes heat protection and thermal insulation products.

It has been appointed as main distributors in the UK by Newtex, of New York. Newtex, which trades under the Zetex brand, is a leading global manufacturer of high temperature textiles for thermal management and fire and heat protection.

W G Eaton chairman Peter Wall said that since the onset of the credit crunch the firm had been worried about falling demand and had therefore diversified its product range.

“We have been looking to extend our thermal protection product range for some time – our customers are requesting more and more advice on protection of both employees and equipment from extreme heat environments – and also to help with insulation to reduce carbon emissions.

“We are delighted that Newtex has chosen us to represent them in the UK. They are an established entity and continue to build a global reputation in this very technical area,” he said.

In addition to gaining access to global brands Zetex & ZetexPlus, Eaton will also distribute Newtex’s Z-Shield line of welding fabrics, Z-Hull line of Navy Board facing fabrics, and Z-Flex Multi-Layer Aluminised fabrics for radiant heat protection.
