Celebrity Lenny Henry is to return to his old haunts to unveil a new £1.5 million moulding facility in the West Midlands.
Actor and comedian Lenny, who grew up and went to school in Dudley and who also worked in the area before gaining television fame, will perform the opening ceremony for a brand new moulding facility at the foundry division of Thomas Dudley.
The facility is the result of new investment exceeding £1.5 million and will further enhance the Dudley foundry’s capability to produce high quality grey and ductile iron components for the plumbing and construction industry.
Established in 1920, Thomas Dudley remains a family-owned business and with around 300 staff, is one of the Black Country’s largest independent employers.
A spokesman said: “An official unveiling ceremony and foundry tour for invited guests and dignitaries will take place on Friday, November 5, and the company is hoping, that due to the notoriety of the date, funny man Lenny will hopefully not cause too many fireworks with his special guest appearance.”
Thomas Dudley specialises in bathroom products including cisterns, flushing syphons, flushing outlet and inlet valves and sanitaryware supports.
Other group companies are Masefield Epson, McDonald Diecasting, Beta Ball Valves and Waterfit.
