Black Country-based packing supplier Express Solutions (UK) has invested in new facilities and equipment to support its development.

The company, which specialises in point-of-sale and non-food retail requirements, has moved into new 15,500 sq ft premises in Willenhall. The location offers the firms improved transport links with easy access to major roads and motorways.

The new facility is geared up to pack, label, store and distribute a broad range of items including toiletries, DVDs, CDs, computer games, healthcare products and magazines.

It is now looking to expand its customer base, which already includes many household names.

The company, set up 25 years ago, has incorporated assembly line techniques to the packing process and is operating on a 24/7 basis, with the ability to pack in excess of 100,000 units per day and up to one million units per week (dependent upon the type of pack).

The efficiency improvements offer a fast turn around for its time critical contracts.

Express Solutions has also supplemented its hand-packing capability with the installation of additional leading edge production technology including a highly acclaimed Shanklin F5 high-speed shrink-wrapping line, capable of processing nearly 4,000 CDs or DVDs per hour.

It has also purchased a German-built BVM Compacta over-wrapper, also capable of processing up to 4,000 units per hour.

managing director Christine Vaughan said: "The new investment has helped us to win lucrative CD and DVD shrink wrapping orders with an international blue chip media manufacturing company.

"It has also led to a massive increase in business with core customers in the toiletries, DVDs, CDs, computer games, healthcare products, and magazine industries."

The company, which has recently achieved the ISO 9001:2000 quality management standard, also has Federation Against Copyright Theft accreditation, which means it is able to carry out work for the CD/DVD industries with the highest integrity.
