Worcestershire plastic injection moulding specialist LGG Charlesworth has acquired Reading-based trade moulder Prime Plastics Moulding in an undisclosed deal.

The purchase is the latest in a series of acquisitions by the Malvern-based company and further consolidates its status as a leading provider of plastic moulding solutions.

With more than 80 years of experience, the company is one of the world's oldest surviving injection moulding firms, having gained a strong reputation for technical expertise in polymer applications across a broad range of market sectors including the automotive, aerospace, medical and electronics industries.

The current strategic growth plan began in 2005 with the acquisition of Talisman Plastics, a move designed to establish a product base in the security seal industry. Acquiring Semiplas UK in 2007 further enhanced the company's position in the market and the combined strengths of the new businesses led to the creation of Talisman Security Products.

PPM, the most recent company to join the group, has been a front runner in the plastic moulding industry for more than 20 years, having a similar target market to LGG Charlesworth in terms of technology, volume and materials.

LGG Charlesworth managing director Graham Ward said: "This latest acquisition is an important development in the continuing growth of our trade moulding activity and will further strengthen [our] overall technical capability."
