Supercar firm Aston Martin has revealed it is making the fastest mainstream car in its history in the Midlands – boasting speeds of up to 205 mph.
The Warwickshire luxury car firm says it is ‘taking sports car performance to extremes’ with the announcement of the new V12 Vantage S.
The new car replaces the outgoing V12 Vantage in markets throughout the world and, with the exception of the limited edition £1.2 million One-77 hypercar, arrives as the fastest road-going Aston Martin yet.
Aston Martin product communications manager Scott Fisher said: “The new V12 Vantage is a very significant addition to our range – it’s another important car in our centenary year.
“We are celebrating 100 years of Aston Martin and it is nice to have another halo sports car arrive in our 100th year.
“The V12 Vantage is more mainstream and more commercially priced than the One-77 hypercar. We have not confirmed the prices yet but it will be in the region of upwards of £135,000.”
Mr Fisher said the new model would be built to order in common with the Aston Martin experience.
Aston Martin chief executive Dr Ulrich Bez said: “The new V12 Vantage S is simply pure Aston Martin. Learning from our successes on the track feeds the development of this type of car and I’m proud to launch such an exciting sports car in our centenary year.
“The new V12 Vantage S is our most extreme Vantage to date – engineered to bring race car performance and technology to the open road.
“It is our most powerful engine in a beautifully tailored suit.”
The Gaydon firm, founded in Chelsea in January 1913, has 145 dealers in 41 countries.
