Mansell has handed over the 500th refurbished home as part of a major million pound urban regeneration programme in Sandwell.

The construction group’s Stourbridge-based Western Region partnership housing division is carrying out the Sandwell Pathfinder PFI project work on behalf of Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council and Riverside Housing Association.

The 500th house to be completed was that of tenants Emma and Chris Pate of Surrey Crescent, West Bromwich.

Mansell’s work on the Sandwell Pathfinder PFI scheme has won a national silver Considerate Constructors Scheme award.

Work on Mr and Mrs Pate’s home has included complete electrical rewiring, a new kitchen and bathroom, new doors and windows, external insulated rendering, roof repairs, new garden fencing and a new drive.

Mrs Pate was presented with a lawn mower from Mansell to mark the handover. She said they were looking forward to using it to get the garden of their newly-refurbished home into shape.
