A Staffordshire company has illuminated the business scene after notching up £600,000 sales in the first six months of trading for its lighting division.
MaxMax, which employs five people in this side of the business, has spotted a niche in the market for supplying temporary portable trackside lighting systems for the rail and construction industries.
Backed by support from Mustard.uk.com, the Eccleshall company's success stems from the innovative nature of its Linklite MkI and MkII products, which are easy to install and illuminate up to 270 metre of road or track from a single 2kW power source.
Managing director Bob Blakemore said: "We knew the market inside out and realised that there was significant potential for a suite of lighting systems that not only offered excellent performance, but would be suitable for a range of applications.
"Linklite provides both of these characteristics, which are proven by the fact that we have enjoyed such encouraging sales since trading started in March.
"However, this is just the start. The attention now has to turn towards continually updating the product and improving the level of service received by our clients."
MaxMax worked with Birmingham-based Genesis Consultants and Mustard.uk.com on a range of marketing issues and the development of an e-commerce website that acts as a one stop sourcing portal for contractors and organisations.
It is also in the process of developing the Linklite MKIII, which will incorporate a number of new design improvements.
Jay Patel of Genesis, said: "This is an excellent example of how a business can seize a cracking idea and, through the right expertise and planning, turn it into commercial reality.
" What is particularly pleasing is that the manufacture of the products and accessories remains firmly in the West Midlands, with Brierley Hill-based Brandenburg (UK) and Yeoman Pressings of Coseley producing the light heads and the various assemblies respectively."
MaxMax will look to maximise Network Rail certification to secure £1 million annual sales for the lighting division and build on strong growth in the pest control and environmental markets.
