An afternoon tea fundraiser at Birmingham’s most high profile department store helped raise more than £2,200 for equipment at the Cancer Unit at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Selfridges in the Bullring hosted the event organised by Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer, which has raised more than £1 million in the last 12 years for treatments of the UK’s most common cancer.

State of the art technology at the hospital has seen it become a centre of excellence, providing patients with a level of treatment far beyond the means of the NHS, LFBC said.

Co-founder and chairman of the charity, Veronica Kumeta, said: “We all had an amazing afternoon at the tea party and I can’t thank people enough for coming along and donating so generously.”
