Wragge & Co has completed its first deal for VT Group.
The support services and shipbuilding group has acquired hotel and catering provider HCTC for £10 million. HCTC is a leading work-based learning provider specialising in the hospitality sector, with offices across the UK.
The business operates primarily through Government-funded contracts with the likes of the Learning and Skills Council, and in 2005 had a turnover of around £14 million.
Birmingham-born VT chief executive Paul Lester said: "This is the latest stage in our strategy to grow our education and skills business."
Corporate group director Julian Smith led a Wragge & Co team comprising corporate associate Robbie Payne, employment partner Patrick Brodie and tax partner Kevin Lowe.
Jordanna Popli, Anna Colley and Ruth Blackburn provided additional advice on commercial, property and pensions issues. Mr Smith said: "We have started 2006 where we ended 2005; with a strong deal flow for new and existing major corporate clients.
"This is our first corporate transaction for VT, one of a growing number of listed companies choosing us."
