Law firm HBJ Gateley Wareing has announced the capture of top construction and engineering lawyer Robert Bryan.
He will head the firm’s London construction team.
The move completes a trio of senior appointments in six months including Norman Oliver from DLA Piper to head the firm’s project finance team based in the Edinburgh office, and Simon Pigden from Pinsent Masons, to run the commercial team in the Birmingham office.
Mr Bryan joins from Simmons & Simmons where he led the construction practice and is widely regarded as one of the most influential construction and engineering lawyers in the UK.
He specialises in litigation and arbitration, adjudication, mediation and conciliation whilst non–contentious work includes all types of traditional procurement as well as joint venture partnering, EPC and PFI contracts. He has particular experience in construction, development, infrastructure, energy and rail projects working with developers, contractors and consultants.
Clients include Nationwide, Atkins, Tubelines, Fitzpatrick, Network Rail, BP Amoco, Threadneedle Property Fund and the Government of Abu Dhabi.
Mr Bryan said: "I am delighted to be joining HBJ Gateley Wareing at this time of exciting growth. The firm has a highly regarded national construction team with a commitment to rapidly expand its construction and engineering offering whilst the firm’s focus on the Gulf States matches my experience and expertise.
"The hands-on approach appeals to clients who increasingly require focused, practical solutions to the preparation of project documentation, disputes and contractual issues."
HBJ Gateley Wareing chairman and head of the London office Bijan Sedghi added: "Our construction team is one of the powerhouses of the firm and we are delighted to welcome a partner of Robert’s calibre and reputation.
His expertise in advising on large scale construction and engineering projects greatly enhances our ability to service our growing client base."
