Law firm Shoosmiths has been shortlisted for Best Regulatory Law Firm at the 2015 Women in Compliance Awards.

The team, which was a finalist last year, was selected from more than 250 entries for the awards.

The award criteria stipulate entrants must demonstrate their compliance team is either led by a woman or has a diverse make-up with female team members being integral to its function and success.

Birmingham-based senior associate Hayley Saunders, Manchester-based senior associate Andrea James and Nottingham-based senior associate, Aisling Duffy all play pivotal roles in the Shoosmiths’ compliance team and were included in the award nomination.

Ms Saunders is a specialist environmental, health & safety lawyer, praised in the legal directory Chambers UK for her ‘approachability, professional support and knowledge’ and in Legal 500 as being ‘tenacious and knowledgeable’.

Ms James is an English and Irish qualified solicitor who leads Shoosmiths’ professional discipline & healthcare regulatory team.

The main focus of her work is defending professionals at fitness to practise proceedings before their regulatory bodies.

Ms Duffy leads the firm’s data protection team and is experienced in advising clients on all matters relating to data including data protection, privacy law, freedom of information and data security.

The awards ceremony take place on March 19 2015 at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower in London’s Knightsbridge.
