Property lawyers at Colmore Row firm Shoosmiths have helped pave the way for a major town centre regeneration project in Staffordshire.

Partner and property litigation specialist Darren Clegg and compulsory purchase specialist Heidi Slater advised Cannock Chase District Council on a compulsory purchase order (CPO) crucial to the redevelopment of Hednesford town centre.

The Hednesford Gateway Scheme will feature a discount food store, several retail units, and an extended car park.

As well as advising the district council on the process and documentation for making the CPO, Shoosmiths helped the council prepare for a public inquiry into the project, but this was later deemed unnecessary, when all remaining objectors to the CPO withdrew their objections.
