A seminar designed to help financial institutions and business people find their way through the complexities of lending and borrowing according to Islamic Shari'ah principles has been hailed a success.
The event, organised by Warwickshire law firm Needham & James, was held at the IOD Hub in Birmingham and was opened by Mufti Barkatulla, from North Finchley Mosque.
Presentations were made by Needham & James senior partner John Hughes and adviser on Islamic finance Kazi Rahman.
Mr Hughes said: "We planned the seminar some time before the Chancellor spelled out his ambition that Britain should become a leading centre in the field of Islamic finance, and it is clear from the response that there is significant interest in the subject amongst financial institutions and members of the Muslim population who want to conduct their business according to Islamic law." ..SUPL:
