The corporate law department at Worcester-based solicitors Harrison Clark Rickerbys enjoyed its most successful year yet, recording a 47 per cent increase in business in 2013.

During a busy year the firm became one of the Midlands’ most active corporate legal providers by advising on corporate transactions including sales, acquisitions and management buyouts worth almost £250 million.

Particular growth was seen in business acquisitions, refinances and sales across a range of regional, national and international markets.

The firm also picked up a string of accoldaes along the way.

It was cited by The Lawyer as one of only 38 UK law firms in 2013 to have advised on a merger or acquisition for an AIM-listed company, when it helped lead the £12 million acquisition of risk management software business Active Risk Group by Sword Group.

Harrison Clark Rickerbys’ corporate standing was also highlighted in September 2013 when the Legal 500 named its teams in Worcester and Hereford as first tier in the West Midlands in the corporate and commercial area.

The firm’s managing partner and head of corporate Rod Thomas said: “We have seen a confidence return to the market, resulting in successful exits for numerous clients.

“We have been delighted that so many companies looking for growth, efficiency and a new direction placed their trust in our corporate team last year – and delighted to win several accolades from respected sources.

“No doubt 2014 will present even more challenges for businesses, and we are ready to do battle on their behalf to achieve the best possible outcomes.”

Harrison Clark Rickerbys has 350 staff and partners based at offices in Worcester, Cheltenham, Hereford, Ross-on-Wye and the Thames Valley.
