A corporate finance team at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Midlands advised private equity company 3i on its £32.5 million investment in international environmental consultancy, SLR Holdings.

Valuing the company at approximately £100 million, the investment will fund the next phase in SLR’s international expansion.

Headquartered in Aylesbury, SLR has a network of 18 offices in the UK, three of which are based in the Midlands at Redditch, Shrewsbury and Nottingham.

Matt Waddell, head of corporate finance at PwC in the Midlands, said: "This is an important private equity-led transaction and demonstrates that in spite of the restrictions of current market conditions, investment and debt funding remain available for well-managed, cash-generative businesses with an excellent track record.

"For the Midlands, the deal is further evidence that the best businesses are continuing to attract interest from national private equity teams."

Richard Bishop, 3i partner, added: "SLR is a market leading business in a sector with tremendous growth potential. We look forward to helping SLR develop its international profile and grow the business."
