A property litigation specialist is moving from a large Birmingham law firm to join the growing dispute resolution team at Black Country firm Higgs & Son.

Nyree Applegarth has joined the firm from Wragge & Co, where she has been a property litigation specialist for the last seven years.

Ms Applegarth is joining the dispute resolution department at Higgs as it starts to see more and more business. The team now numbers 10 people, up from just four in 2007.

She has experience in areas including hostile and non-hostile lease renewals, interim and terminal dilapidations claims, rent review issues, residential and commercial service charge recovery, squatters proceedings and all types of possession claims, property related insolvency issues, title rectification and distress and forfeiture proceedings.

Ms Applegarth said: “As the credit crunch continues to squeeze, litigation is fast becoming a sought after specialism. The Higgs team has some of the best experience in the region and I am looking forward to being a part of the team’s future development.”

Higgs & Sons head of dispute resolution Julia Lowe said: “Our strategy is to grow the number of specialists across our key areas of commercial, property and contentious probate disputes and debt recovery.”
