Pinsent Masons has appointed partner Tom Johnson as head of the firm’s Birmingham property group.

Mr Johnson, a partner with 15 years’ property experience, has been with the firm since 2003.

Pinsent’s Birmingham property group has advised on some of the region’s headline projects including the £250m Summer Row retail expansion scheme in Wolverhampton and the regeneration of New Street station.

The team is also advising on a number of major national projects, including the London Olympics and the Earls Court redevelopment in London.

Previous group head Joanna Lawson-King will continue her focus on existing client relationships.

Mr Johnson said: "I am very proud to be leading an established team of talented lawyers with such a breadth and depth of expertise. Joanna’s leadership in Birmingham has seen us develop an enviable reputation in the marketplace. She will be a hard act to follow, but I am looking forward to the challenges and opportunities which lie ahead."
