Julia Messervy-Whiting has joined Shakespeare Martineau as a partner in its personal injury team.

Ms Messervy-Whiting makes the move from Plexus in Evesham where she specialised in serious injuries and fatal accidents.

In her new role she will be tasked with nurturing a nationwide client base and working with insurers and large captives across a number of sectors.

Ms Messervy-Whiting said: “What makes the area of personal injury so interesting is the variety that it encompasses in terms of subject matter and the skill sets required to achieve successful outcomes.

“The client base of the insurance team at Shakespeare Martineau provides an ideal opportunity for me to apply my existing skills to a wide- ranging portfolio of cases.

“Given the diverse nature of personal injury litigation, I am also looking forward to new challenges and the chance further to build on my experience.”

Ms Messervy-Whiting’s previous clients include organisations within sectors such as engineering, healthcare, leisure and construction as well as insurers looking after the interests of such businesses.

Craig Wallace, a partner at Shakespeare Martineau and head of the firm’s insurance team, said: “Julia’s 27 years of experience in personal injury litigation will be a major USP for the team as we look to expand during 2015 and beyond.

“Our insurance practice already incorporates a wide-ranging mix of capabilities, allowing us to administer a highly-diverse portfolio of cases and Julia’s capabilities will help to strengthen this.”
