DLA Piper has appointed two new partners at its Birmingham office.
The firm has announced the promotion of Tim Lake and Ben Gorner to partner in the firm’s Birmingham office.
The partner appointments come as part of a number of promotions at DLA Piper in Birmingham.
Charlotte Duce (restructuring) and Imogen Noons (employment) were both made legal directors, whilst Laura Cashmore, Tom Farrell and Anne Marie Wiseman (finance), Rob Forsyth (employment) and Laura Taylor (restructuring) were all promoted to associate.
Mr Lake began his career as a trainee at the Birmingham office of DLA Piper. He specialises primarily in private equity transactions, including management buyouts, secondary buyouts, development capital investments, exits and debt/equity restructurings.
His promotion follows a year in which he acted on a number of high profile deals including acting for management on the buyout of Provimi Petfoods for 188 million euros.
Mr Gorner trained at Eversheds and qualified as a solicitor in the employment team before moving to DLA Piper in 2005 and being promoted to associate in 2008.
He has a particular focus on the finance and support services sectors and regularly advises on high level boardroom disputes and major outsourcing projects.
Work highlights over the past year have included successfully defending a major local employer against a multi-party claim of unfair dismissal following a lengthy redundancy process arising from the recession.
