The education team at Birmingham law firm Martineau has scooped top honours in this year’s Legal 500 ranking.
The nominations means it has been named the most accomplished education legal team in the Midlands and London.
Education team head Smita Jamdar said: “Unlike other law firms operating within the education sector we have focused our resources in one central office which brings great benefits to our clients including a speedy response to legal issues and most importantly being able to access specialist lawyers within one building.
“If the team is spread across the UK it can often lead to delays in communication and have a negative impact on service delivery.
“The education sector is a dynamic market and it’s critical that we can tap into any one of our 100 lawyers regularly acting for colleges and universities up and down the country.”
Ms Jamdar said she had ambitious plans for the firm’s education work to expand across the country.
In recent months the firm has signed new contracts with Lancaster University, the University of Exeter, Henley College and Enfield College, while also securing reappointment to universities in Cardiff and Coventry as well as Stratford upon Avon College and Suffolk New College.
Martineau acts for more than 80 educational establishments across the UK advising on a range of issues.
