Birmingham law firm Martineau Johnson  has  headhunted  two members of Cobbetts Birmingham construction law team.

Partner  Stephen  Belshaw,  a construction disputes specialist of nearly  20  years'  experience,  has arrived as a partner, joining Paul Mountain and Michael Craik.

In a double header, the firm has also signed up Ne'ema Bowen, who becomes an associate.

Ms Bowen has advised on contracts, claims and litigation.

Mr  Belshaw  is  a  specialist  in construction  disputes,  including major contractors, developers  and manufacturing companies.

He also has track record in the drafting  and  negotiation  of contracts,  warranties,  bonds  and guarantees.

His arrival will enable the team to respond to continuing growth.

Martineau  Johnson  managing partner  Bill  Barker  said:  "Construction  law  continues  to  be  a growth  point  for  us  and,  having boosted our team at partner level, we are able to add further to the strength of our team. Stephen's role will be to be actively involved in business development as well as to handle major client assignments.

"Our strategy is to increase our market share significantly as well as to benefit from strong prospects for  building,  construction,  civil engineering  and  infrastructure products."  Ms  Bowen's  arrival provides  immediate  evidence  for this plan, according to Mr Mountain, who heads the construction law group, which was already six strong.

"Stephen and Ne'ema's arrival confirms our status as one of the leading construction laws groups in the West Midlands, indeed in the country."
