West Midlands law firm Sydney Mitchell has announced the appointment of Lorraine Smallwood as a partner in the firm's Sheldon operation.
Having joined the firm's Birmingham city centre office in 2000, she moved to Sheldon in 2001 where she heads up the domestic conveyancing department.
Ms Smallwood worked for local authorities dealing with matters such as housing, planning, contracts and highway law before entering the private sector.
She qualified as a solicitor in 1992, and for four years headed up the residential conveyancing department of NatWest in Birmingham.
Senior partner Richard Holland said: "With her extensive knowledge of property law and excellent reputation with clients and other professionals, we are delighted that Lorraine is joining our strong partnership team."
