Lichfield solicitors company Keelys has been working with Greenbelt, a company that owns and manages greenbelt land for new housing developments.

Commercial property partner James Chisholm acted for the company in the transfer of public open space at nine developments in Leicestershire and Northamptonshire. All are owned by David Wilson Homes.

Mr Chisholm and the commercial property team at Keelys provided legal advice on the transfer and negotiated transfer documentation. The value was not disclosed.

Mr Chisholm said: “Greenbelt is a forward looking organisation whose expertise lies in managing environmental, horticultural, forestry, wildlife, drainage, play and leisure facilities for planners, developers and local communities. It manages 750 locations.

“Its role has become a key part of developing where planning guidelines, new legislation and increasing concern to protect sensitive areas require local authorities to ensure landscapes are properly planned, managed and maintained in a financially sustainable way.

“We were delighted to continue our long relationship with Greenbelt and wish it luck with the expansion of its business in the provision of sustainable solutions for open spaces.”

Glasgow-based Greenbelt works actively with residential and commercial developers, to create attractive landscapes within new developments that sustain the local environment and suit local conditions. Typical projects include the provision and maintenance of play areas, new and existing woodland, wetland and nature reserves.
