National law firm Irwin Mitchell has posted a strong set of results with turnover up by 6.9 per cent to £183.7 million.

And the firm’s Birmingham office has continued to enjoy strong growth across its business and personal legal services divisions across the region.

Group chief executive John Pickering, said: “Irwin Mitchell has continued to make considerable strides forward in Birmingham over the last 12 months, further establishing its position in both the personal and business legal services markets.

“These are certainly positive results and it is particularly pleasing to have grown the business during some very strong economic headwinds.

"The last financial year has seen significant internal investment in further enhancing our systems and processes, as well as recruiting a number of senior partners, including at member level.”

Headed up by regional managing partner, Stuart Henderson, Irwin Mitchell’s Birmingham office on Temple Street opened in 1989 and employs 280 members of staff with 24 partners across its personal and business legal services divisions.

Mr Pickering said Irwin Mitchell’s plans to become an ABS would prompt further growth, including the possibility of mergers and acquisitions.

He added: “We are looking to further strengthen in areas where we already have strong and market leading positions, as well as building our offering and strengthening our market position in other areas as well.”
