Shoosmiths has boosted its real estate team with the appointment of partner Kathy Toon, who joins from SGH Martineau where she was head of retail.
Ms Toon’s appointment follows the appointment of retail partner, Ellis Gardner-Browne to Shoosmiths’ Nottingham office from Geldards, where he was head of retail property. Their appointments follow the recruitment of other new starters in the national retail team in recent months.
Ms Toon – who will be based in Shoosmiths’ Birmingham office – has more than 20 years’ experience in the legal profession.
At SGH Martineau, Kathy advised developer and retail clients on all aspects of real estate work.
Prior to that she held positions at Clarke Willmott and DLA Piper, as real estate partner and head of office, and head of retail real estate, respectively.
Ms Toon will advise clients on a range of real estate issues with particular focus on retail, development and portfolio management work.
She has been recognised in the Chambers & Partners legal directory as a ‘leader in her field’ since 2006.
Ms Toon said: “It is very hard not to notice Shoosmiths’ presence in the marketplace. It is an exciting place to be with a growing national real estate team. I am looking forward to making my mark here.”
