The corporate team at the Birmingham office of Irwin Mitchell has advised US-based SCIO Health Analytics on its acquisition of Data Intelligence.
SCIO is a health analytics solutions company and its purchase of Data Intelligence, a Slough-based provider of business intelligence services to pharmaceutical sales and marketing departments, extends its footprint in the life sciences marketplace.
Based in Connecticut, SCIO Health Analytics has over 650 employees and specialises in generating multi-million pound cost savings to clients in the health sector by integrating data.
Founded by Mike Askew and Jon Axon, Data Intelligence will operate as a subsidiary of SCIO Health Analytics.
Rob Laugharne, senior associate in Irwin Mitchell’s corporate team, said: “This is a significant deal for both companies and certainly strengthens SCIO’s position as a global health analytics organisation.
“We are delighted to have advised on this transaction and expect to see and advise on an increasing number of cross-border transactions over the next 12 months.”
Jacob Mani, chief financial officer at SCIO, added: “We are delighted with the support we received from Irwin Mitchell’s corporate team.
“Working to an extremely tight deadline, their tenacity was extremely important in making sure the deal completed within demanding parameters.
“We are especially appreciative of the clarity and commerciality of the legal advice given, especially as we are not a UK-based business.”
