Challinors has bid farewell to chief executive David Higson who has retired following 19 years of service with the West Midlands law firm.

A former Wing Commander in the RAF, Mr Higson joined Challinors in 1988 when the firm was known as Challinors & Roberts and had a total of six partners.

He departs following a period of sustained growth. Challinors now has 29 partners and is regarded as one of the most successful law firms in the region with offices in Birmingham city centre, West Bromwich, Edgbaston and Harborne.

Senior partner Paul Griffiths said: "I have worked alongside David for many years and can personally attest to his professionalism and the way in which he has brought discipline and focus to the administration of the firm.

"Throughout David's time at Challinors, his business acumen has created the right conditions for the firm's expansion. As Challinors has evolved into a major player in the regional legal industry, David has adapted to the challenges these changing conditions have presented and has continued to drive the firm further forward."

Mr Griffiths hosted a drinks reception at Challinors' West Bromwich office to mark Mr Higson's farewell and to commemorate his time with the firm. The event was attended by partners, solicitors and support staff across its four regional offices.

Mr Higson said: "I have spent a considerable proportion of my career at Challinors and I feel privileged to have been involved in the operational direction of the firm throughout a period of prolific success. I have also been fortunate to work with many notable colleagues throughout this time and I sincerely wish the firm continued good fortune for the future."

Challinors incorporating Cartwright & Lewis has 29 partners and approximately 120 fee earners.
