Black Country law firm Higgs & Sons has become an affiliate member of the British Franchise Association.

Higgs & Sons has been involved in franchising work for many years and in that time has acted for franchisors and franchisees in a variety of industries.

Ian Shovlin, senior partner, said: "We are thrilled to achieve recognition from the BFA.

"Franchising has received a bad press on occasions, primarily due to unwary individuals signing up with disreputable franchisors; however, in most cases, franchising remains a highly successful and attractive business model.

"This area of work is specialised and there are few firms in the country who are able to offer the necessary expertise. We are delighted to be able to offer specialist advice to our clients. The firm has always strived to offer the highest standard of service and this has helped us to attract franchise clients from across the country."
