The Birmingham office of Midlands law firm Freeth Cartwright has appointed Midlands insolvency lawyer Mike Gilmour to head up its Colmore Row-based insolvency practice.

Mr Gilmour joins the firm from nearby neighbours Clarke Willmott, where he was a partner and office head of insolvency. He has more than 15 years’ experience in the region, including several years at the Birmingham office of Eversheds.

Freeth Cartwright’s Birmingham managing partner Richard Beverley said: "Mike’s appointment is designed to strengthen the firm further at a time when insolvency, restructuring and recovery advice is a key requirement for many of our clients. He has an excellent reputation in the profession and has the skills and knowledge to be an outstanding asset to the local office as well as to the firm’s wider Midlands base."

At the same time as Mr Gilmour’s arrival at Freeth Cartwright, the firm has been appointed to the solicitors panel of the business support unit for the Lloyds Banking Group.

Mr Gilmours appointment comes two years after Freeth Cartwright set up in Birmingham, the growth at the firm since setting up a Birmingham branch to a relocation last April from Victoria Square to larger city centre premises on Colmore Row.
