Farah Baksh has been appointed as business development director at accountants PricewaterhouseCoopers to focus on the needs of privately owned companies, entrepreneurs and smaller plcs.

She brings a wealth of experience with growing businesses and a particular knowledge and expertise in the manufacturing sector.

She will work with a team of over 100 professionals offering the full breadth of service including funding for growth, mergers and acquisitions activity, accounting, tax and structuring advice, process efficiency and cost reduction.

Barry Smith, Midlands head of the ambitious companies group at PwC, said: "Farah is a welcome addition to the team and will no doubt have an important contribution to make in developing our offering.

"Historically, there has been a perception among certain parts of the business community that we are only interested in working with the FTSE 200 and international assignments. The reality is very different.

"We already work with a great many middle market businesses ranging from family owned and owner-managed enterprises to plcs both listed and non listed outside the FTSE 200.

"We are currently supporting a variety of organisations in a number of sectors to provide advice."
