DWF executive partner in Birmingham, Caroline Coates, has been appointed by the Legal Services Board to join the Office for Legal Complaints.

Ms Coates joins as a non-lay member to support the administration of the Legal Ombudsman for England and Wales.

The Office for Legal Complaints (OLC) is the Board of the Legal Ombudsman, which provides an independent and impartial complaints resolution body for the legal sector.

The announcement also saw Michael Kaltz, partner at Ernst & Young; Tony King, Pensions Ombudsman; Jane McCall, managing director of landlord at the Trafford Housing Trust and Dr Bernard Herdan join the OLC as lay members.

All appointments are made by the Legal Services Board in accordance with the Legal Services Act 2007.

Ms Coates, litigation partner and executive partner for DWF’s Birmingham office, said: “It’s a great honour to join the Office for Legal Complaints.
