Play resumed at The Britannic, in Moseley, with No 5 seeing off Mainstay Group in damp and spongy conditions.

Despite the conditions, a score of 87 by Mainstay was still under par with No 5 taking the victory by six wickets.

The poor weather returned to ensure that DTZ and DAC Beachcroft had to settle for two points each.

Phoenix Group and Eversheds then locked horns in a bowl out due to the continued poor weather. The early arrival at the ground of the Phoenix Group team ensured that they were able to get a full practice session in.

With Phoenix Group leading 4-2 in the bowl out there arrived a real moment of controversy.

There was a dispute over whether a ball bowled by Simon Barker of Eversheds had bounced twice before hitting the stumps.

There was a short stand off with the Eversheds litigators warming up before the delivery was ruled legitimate and the scores were tied at four a piece.

John Jeffery hit the stumps last with Phoenix Group taking the victory. Williams de Broe made an impressive 144 for seven when the sunshine returned.

More impressive was that wides contributed 50 of those runs and surely a tournament record.

This was enough to see them beat GVA who managed to reach 119.

Keith Scott was unlucky to be given run out as he seemingly made it past the stumps.

The umpire was allegedly blinded by the sun and gave the decision on the strength of the appeal. Good umpiring.
