Law firm Sydney Mitchell has appointed a new partner to join its growing commercial team in the West Midlands. John Irving will work in the department based in firm’s city centre office in Waterloo Street.
He joined the firm from London based Staal & Staal and specialises in commercial contractual matters. The new partner has specialist experience in the drafting of contracts for a wide range of commercial and industrial applications as well as advising on the provisions of existing agreements.
The move comes at a time when Sydney Mitchell is urging their business clients to review their business terms. He said: “It is now very important for companies to be looking at this.
“With the recession in full swing, it is important for companies to make sure their business terms are appropriate and effectively used so that they can reduce their exposure to suppliers and customers alike.”
Mr Irving has previously acted for clients across a broad commercial spectrum and especially in the motor industry, services industries, the leisure industry both in the UK and Europe as well as retailers and websites. He also has extensive experience in asset leasing, supply, purchasing, distribution, turn key, projects, service provision, consultancy, agency, franchising, dealership, out sourcing, joint ventures and shareholders, LLP members, sale or purchase of businesses or companies.
Sydney Mitchell is a Midlands based law firm with offices in Birmingham city centre, Sheldon and Shirley. It employs more than 100 people and has 11 partners.
