Experts at the Birmingham office national law firm Cobbetts are advising on the city’s new £188 million library.

Members of Cobbetts’ commercial team have been instructed by joint clients Birmingham City Council and Birmingham Repertory Theatre on the scheme, one of the largest public sector developments in Europe.

Cobbetts is providing legal advice on the joint management of shared facilities at the complex and drafting a management services agreement.

The new 10-storey building, which will also include a new studio theatre and a recording studio, is due to be completed in 2013.

Frances Anderson, commercial partner at Cobbetts’ Birmingham office, said: “This is a very significant piece of work for us to be involved in. We are delighted to be advising Birmingham City Council and the Repertory Theatre on aspects of this strategically-important and innovative development.”
