Midland law firm Challinors has hired Andrew Shipley and Stephen Rowe to its 12-strong commercial litigation team that operates across the region.

Mr Shipley was previously partner at East Midlands law firm Roythornes for three years and Mr Rowe moves to Challinors after 12 years at Solihull firm Williamson & Soden, where he was a partner and head of the litigation team.

Challinors’ senior partner Paul Griffiths said: “Both Andrew and Stephen are highly experienced commercial litigators and will play a valuable part in the continued expansion of the firm’s commercial litigation team.

“Historically, Challinors has always exhibited great strength in commercial litigation and is committed to building on this reputation. As part of the team, which currently has 12 fee earners, five of them partners, and is headed by experienced litigator Peter Lowe, Stephen and Andrew will play an important role in realising the firm’s plans for sustaining this reputation and indeed growing the team.

“The appointment of two highly experienced litigation experts signposts Challinors’ continued commitment to this area of specialism. Instructions for the team continue to rise, in particular in the area of professional negligence. We have successfully acted in a number of high profile litigation cases in the High Court in the past few weeks alone.”

Meanwhile, Claire Butterfield from Challinors has been appointed to The Law Society’s accredited children’s panel.

Her appointment brings the number of employees at Challinors to have been awarded a place on the Children’s Panel to five.
