Divorce lawyer Kevin Harris-James, one of the best-known figures in the West Midlands legal world, has made a second move in just three months, joining the family law department of Stratford-upon-Avon’s Needham & James.

The lawyer, known for his roster of clients including Premiership footballers and entertainment stars, made the move less than three months after leaving his long-term employer Irwin Mitchell to join Stoke-on-Trent firm Beswicks.

He said he had taken the decision for family reasons.

Needham & James, which was acquired by Birmingham’s Shakespeare Putsman earlier this year, still trades under its old name in Stratford.

Mr Harris-James is one of the top family lawyers outside London, and was named West Midlands Family Lawyer of the Year in 2005 by the Birmingham Law Society, and was shortlisted again in 2008. He specialises in high-value and complicated claims coming out of divorces.

He trained as a litigator and has worked in China, the Middle East, US and Europe. He has been involved in a number of publications in his sector. He co-authored International Aspects of Family Law (2nd edition) and Resolution: International Family Law Guide, and lectures extensively at universities and law colleges.

His work representing numerous professional footballers and celebrities from the world of entertainment won him an appearance on Footballers Wives – the Reality on Sky TV.

He said: “This is a challenging area of law to be involved in and I’m delighted to bring my experience to Needham & James. With pre-nuptial agreements becoming increasingly recognised in family law, it’s imperative that we provide the complex legal advice necessary to protect a client’s assets.”
