National health-care law firm Capsticks has expanded its Birmingham team with the recruitment of four senior lawyers, bringing the total number of staff permanently based in its Newhall Street office to seven across all of its practice areas.

Shaun O’Malley has joined the dispute resolution team from Mills & Reeve; Bridget Prosser has joined the employment team from Davies & Co (and was previously with Beachcroft), and Carol Evans has joined the health-care team from the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust.

In addition, Lisa Robotham will be joining the property team from Hill Dickinson in September. They will join the team of 10 partners who have been focusing on the Midlands market since Capsticks opened an office last year.

Gary Hay, head of Capsticks’ Birmingham office, said the move was part of a general plan of expansion at the firm.

He added: “These appointments bring further strength to our West Midlands team – they all have significant health-care experience and we’re delighted to have such calibre people on board to help us achieve our goals.

“This is in line with our core strategy for developing a national practice, which is to combine the Capsticks brand with a strong local presence. We expect to announce further appointments shortly.”

Capsticks is independently rated by The Legal 500 and Chambers UK as one of the leading health and social care law firms in the UK. The firm acts for more than 180 health-care clients, including NHS trusts and health authorities, regulatory bodies, charities and independent providers.

It has a team of more than 100 health-care specialists, access to a database of previous advice and precedents and an ISO-9001-accredited quality assurance programme.
