Beachcroft has appointed former military man Bryan Houston as head of intelligence.

Mr Houston has 22 years of operational military experience and was most recently the surveillance and covert penetration team manager for HM Armed Forces, a counter intelligence covert surveillance team which provides bespoke security surveys and advice to royalty, government and sensitive UK military sites.

He has considerable experience in the intelligence arena, including the formation and management of bespoke intelligence teams, often supporting national and international operations.

He is based in Beachcroft’s Birmingham office in Brindleyplace.

In addition Lorraine Carolan, head of Beachcroft’s claims validation team, has confirmed she will be recruiting eight more intelligence analysts.

The team will also be working more closely with the Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB), with the secondment of a senior analyst.

Ms Carolan said: “We have grown our client base significantly over the last year and are now widely recognised as one of the leading fraud teams in the UK.

“The insurance industry has made significant advances in the detection and prevention of fraud in the last decade but there is still far more that can be done, particularly as fraudsters commit increasingly sophisticated and elaborate schemes.

“Mr Houston’s operational experience as a professional intelligence officer – both as a manager and practitioner – will be invaluable to the team.”
