A lawyer who acts for some of the biggest names in the equestrian world has won the right to represent them in higher courts.

Jacqui Fulton, an equine solicitor with Leamington law firm Blythe Liggins and one of the rising stars of British dressage, has been appointed a solicitor advocate.

Ms Fulton can now represent her clients up to and including hearings at the High Court.

"From a client point of view it is cost-effective as it means instructing only myself to deal with an entire case, rather than a solicitor and a barrister if the matter proceeds to court," she said.

"The qualification also means that I am able to give opinions on the area of law in which I specialise, therefore other solicitors wanting an opinion on an equine case can instruct me to provide an opinion and/or to represent their client at court."
