Birmingham Law Society is mobilising city lawyers to abseil down the 110ft Wesleyan building in Colmore Circus to raise money for Acorns Children’s Hospice.

The society hopes that 90 lawyers will volunteer for the controlled descent on Saturday, March 10.

A ten-man crime team from St Ives Chambers has already stepped up to the plate, while solicitors from Coley and Tilley, MFG and SGH Martineau have also signed up for the challenge.

Society president Andrew Lancaster said: “We want to raise a serious sum of money for Acorns and we are hoping to make this a family event – participants can be aged from 12. If you don’t fancy it yourself, why not buy it as a gift for the people in your life with an aptitude for altitude?”

The entry fee is £10, and all participants must raise a minimum of £75 sponsorship.
